Richie was born and raised in the hills of Jointwood in St Elizabeth, Jamaica. He moved to the UK in the year 2000, bringing with him all the traditional recipes handed down through the generations, and taught to him by his Grandmother, Miss Alga. I was born in Ormskirk and raised in Skelmersdale. I love this town and the people. I met Richie in Manchester, and he moved to Skem.  He too loves Skem, so when we decided to open a business with his recipes, there was no question that business had to be in our home town. We unfortunately couldn’t find a suitable premises to open a shop, but that wasn’t going to stop us. So we bought and renovated an old food trailer. Which is now sparkling and ready to serve the people of Skelmersdale. Bringing cultural diversity to the area. We have had an overwhelming response from the town with so much support. We are so grateful to everyone. Richie stays true to his roots, returning to Jamaica each year in keeping with his traditions of painting his grandparents graves, and returning with fresh local spices which he uses in his recipes, along with love. Richie’s passion along with music, has always been cooking. Unlike a lot of other establishments offering Caribbean food, Richie’s food is not overpowered with pepper, instead he combines spices to give flavour, so the majority of dishes are suitable for all. However he offers hot Pepper Sauce for those who can handle it. We are no longer based on the car park of the Busy Bee pub in Old Skem, but we will soon be opening at The Hare & Hounds pub in Digmoor.

We are trialling opening hours and seeing how many dishes we can physically cook on the trailer, but for now we will be open Friday and Saturday 4-8pm and Sunday 3-7pm and the majority of main meals and extras will be available. Thanks Sam and Richie ❤
